When the Marvel Studios-produced TV series launched on Disney+ in January 2021 with WandaVision, that year wound up premiering no fewer than four other Marvel series: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki (Season 1), Hawkeye and, on the animated side, Season 1 of the What If…?
In a Tuesday-morning quarterly earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the rollout of Marvel TV series will now aim to max out at two per year, with similar strictures being placed on movie output.
Iger said that some of the yet-to-be-released small-screen Marvel series represent “a vestige of basically a desire in the past to increase volume.”
