That might be an advantage for MGM, which is plotting a new RoboCop movie with District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp at the helm.
Deadline reports that Blomkamp has signed on to direct RoboCop Returns, which isn’t a reboot, but a continuation of Verhoeven’s 1987 film.
That said, the fact that RoboCop Returns wasn’t written by Blomkamp is definitely a point in its favor.
Honestly, the fact that Blomkamp is the obvious choice for a new RoboCop movie could go either way.
