“Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens,” Kaepernick previously said in a statement.
Scripts for Colin in Black & White were completed earlier this year, with DuVernay set to direct the pilot episode.
After finding its lead star in up-and-comer Jaden Michael (Vampire vs. the Bronx), the Ava Duvernay-produced limited series Colin in Black & White has found its stars to portray the parents of young Colin Kaepernick in Mary-Louise Parker (Mr. Mercedes) and Nick Offerman (The Great North)!
The scripted six-part series will focus on Kaepernick’s teenage years and early football, basketball, and baseball successes in Turlock, California.
