That is brilliant stuff from the marketing department.
This footage also does a great job of transitioning audiences from that post-Infinity War sadness and preparing them for the kind of upbeat fun they have come to expect from Marvel movies and are definitely going to get in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Starting out the trailer with a typical trailer voice imparting the gravitas of the war with Thanos and the absence of Ant-Man before leading in to Scott Lang being every bit the goofball we expect him to be.
There is something of a meta quality to this TV spot, as it seems to be poking fun not just at Ant-Man’s absence from this huge event film, but also at all of us for our constant speculation and theorizing as to what his absence means.
