New Line has won a bidding war for the viral ghost story “Dear David,” written by former BuzzFeed writer Adam Elis, according to Collider.
After a prolonged negotiation period, New Line eventually beat out Paramount Players for the project.
The former BuzzFeed writer spread the word about the ghostly apparition on Twitter and came away with more than one million followers.
The site mentions that BuzzFeed Studios had partnered with It producer Dan Lin and his Rideback banner to produce the film back in June, but it still needed a distributor.
