Isaac will also be producing the film, which will be directed by Chris Weitz, a fellow Star Wars vet who co-wrote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
This is not the first historical drama for Isaac, whose next film is The Promise which debuts on April 21.
With several films in production and post-production, including Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, he has added another film to his already packed slate.
After breaking out in films such as Drive, Inside Llewyn Davis, and A Most Violent Year, he rose to stardom with the role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
