Deadline has brought word that Lee Unkrich, one of the most innovative creative minds behind powerhouse animation studio Pixar, is leaving the company after an impressive 25-year run that saw him win two Oscars for the studio.
“Lee arrived at Pixar as we were crafting ‘Toy Story,’ and he’s had a profound effect on all Pixar films since,” Pete Docter, now chief creative officer for Pixar, said.
After twenty-five incredible years, I’ve decided to leave Pixar.
He will be sorely missed — but we are enormously grateful for his tireless dedication to quality, and his ability to touch the hearts of audiences around the world.”
