Heading into the weekend, New Line’s Rampage was eyeing a debut between $30 million and $40 million, although some projections had Rampage under-performing with A Quiet Place repeating atop the box office.
A Quiet Place still managed to impress despite dropping to second place, with an estimated $32.6 million.
The movie also had a strong opening weekend overseas, pulling in $114.1 million for a worldwide opening weekend of $148.6 million.
Rampage debuted in 4,101 theaters this weekend, pulling in an impressive $8,413 per-screen average.
