While del Toro and Perlman have remained at peace with the situation, other Hellboy alumni Jeffrey Tambor has slammed Mignola’s treatment of the work.
While the new Hellboy was originally slated to connect to the previous films, it sounds like Rise of The Blood Queen is wiping the slate clean, so perhaps a Perlman cameo would’ve looked a little out of place.
Perlman famously suited up to put on the right Hand of Doom in 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s sequel Hellboy: The Golden Army, but it won’t be third time lucky.
Fans of Mike Mignola’s comics are rightly looking forward to the rebooted Hellboy movie, but fans of Guillermo del Toro’s two previous franchise installments shouldn’t hold their breath about leading star Ron Perlman cameoing in the new movie.
