Sony Pictures has launched an official campaign to get Sausage Party nominated for an Oscar.
“They want to recognize bold, original, risky breakthroughs, and that’s what Sausage Party is, however subversive. Plus, it’s just plain cool.”
If successful, it’ll be the second R-rated animation to receive the honour (the first being Charlie Kaufman film Anomalisa just last year).
Sony chief Tim Rothman certainly fancies the film’s chances: “Academy members are way smarter and more forward-thinking than people realize,” he said.
