Scottish author Irvine Welsh has reacted with disbelief after the acquittal of Alex Salmond for 13 charges of sexual assault.
The High Court jury in Edinburgh returned not guilty verdicts on 12 charges and returned a not proven verdict on a charge of sexual assault with intent to rape.
The former first minister of Scotland was cleared of sexually assaulting nine women on Monday (23 March).
Salmond said the “nightmare” he had been through was nothing compared to the nightmare Scotland faced due to the UK’s coronavirus outbreak.
