Pixar has released the Turning Red featurette for its next coming-of-age fantasy comedy film, which will be making its debut on March 11, exclusively on Disney+.
Turning Red will be led by young actress Rosalie Chiang as she lends her voice to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited.
Turning Red is directed by Domee Shi, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning Pixar short Bao, and is also known as the first woman to direct a short film for the acclaimed animation studio.
“The film introduces Mei Lee, a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence,” reads the synopsis.
