Viewers of BBC Primates were left heartbroken by a scene in which a park ranger recalls the moment his brother died trying to protect gorillas from poachers.
Viewers quickly took to social media after the programme to praise Innocent for his bravery.
Deputy chief ranger for Virunga National Park, Innocent Mburanumwe followed his dad, brother and uncle, to dedicate his life to looking after primates.
Since the BBC finished filming, a further 13 park rangers have lost their lives.
