That said, given that Marvel usually likes to announce their directors approximately a year and a half to two years before a movie is released, I suspect that whoever scores the position will be announced by 2017’s fall or holiday season, if not much earlier.
Whether those women are still being considered for the job or Marvel is looking elsewhere is a mystery, but with Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp to keep the studio busy for the foreseeable future.
