Willem Dafoe was once considered to play the Joker in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film, but he was never actually offered the part.
Nicholson went on to play the Joker admirably in Burton’s Batman, and Dafoe eventually picked up the role as the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, so it all worked out in the end.
But still, fans may wonder what Burton’s film would’ve been like if Dafoe had been cast as the iconic supervillain instead of Nicholson.
The thing is, one of the writers on the original Batman movie agrees with fans.
