Wolverine 3 opens in U.S. theaters on March 3, 2017, followed by unannounced X-Men films on October 6, 2017, March 2, 2018, and June 29, 2018.
Similar to how Mangold and Jackman’s The Wolverine resembles a modern neo-Noir adventure and loosely adapts Chris Claremont’s famous Japan-set Wolverine comic book story, Wolverine 3 (its official title TBA) has been described as a genre movie of sorts; a hard-edged, futuristic neo-western that appears to be loosely adapting elements from writer Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan comic book series, to be exact.
A preview for the third Wolverine solo movie will almost undoubtedly screen with prints of fellow superhero comic book adaptation Doctor Strange in theaters this November, given the overlap in their target demographic.
Mangold has teased just that now through his Twitter account, indicating that the arrival of either the first official Wolverine 3 image, an official title and/or the film’s teaser trailer is imminent.
