According to Deadline, Star Wars alum Daisy Ridley has entered negotiations for the leading role in Disney+’s upcoming film adaptation of Young Woman and the Sea, based on author Glenn Stout’s book of the same name.
Young Woman and the Sea will center around Gertrude “Trudy” Ederly, the first woman ever to swim across the English Channel.
The film was written by Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can) with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman serving as producers.
Ridley gained worldwide recognition for becoming the new lead for the Lucasfilm’s Star Wars sequel trilogy.
